FAQ
What is the budget for the film?

Anna Friel has confirmed that Paramount is setting aside $80
million for the film... quite
a tidy sum of money.
What is Michael Crichton's cut of the
profits?

Crichton allegedly gave the script to Paramount for
nothing, but requested 15% of
whatever profits were made, up to a maximum of $15 million.
When will the film be released?

Paramount had originally planned a December 2002 release, then moved
to a massive summer
2003 release. Both ended up being trashed. The current release date is
November 26th, 2003.
What about the special effects in the
film?

The one and only Industrial Light & Magic will handle
special effects. According to Coming
Soon, "The project is considered small
for ILM, requiring few major computer-generated sequences other
than set extensions of
castles and the creation of locations to resemble 14th-century
France."
Where is Timeline being filmed?

So far the only confirmed filming locations are Terrebonne and
Montreal, both in Québec,
Canada, of course. Naturally, Hollywood, California in the
United States is where most of
the on-set filming will take place.
What will the film be rated?

The MPAA rating is expected to be a "hard" PG-13... as close to
an R as director
Richard Donner can get. This is very similar to what Peter
Jackson was shooting for with
his Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Are real trebuchets (catapults) being
used?

Yes. According to an eyewitness report, "The trebuchets are the
biggest that I have
ever seen fired. They are built on a steel frame covered with
wood. They shoot about 25
feet in the air and reach a distance of 2/3 of the battlefield.
They have been built by
the special effects team in Montreal and by Chico, a well known
effects master from
Quebec. He has also contributed to The Secret Adventures of
Jules Verne. You can
fire just about anything with these things, but we use
projectiles that have a mass of 15
to 50 pounds depending on what we are trying to achieve." |
